Exclamation Operation: Enigma

AUGUST 12-14, 2005

OPERATION: ENIGMA , SCENARIO:
The Red Tiger Clan has been a minor terrorist threat for nearly 25 years. As an organization with connections to Lybia, Iraq, Iran and Syria, the RTC has received funding from countless radical Muslim organizations that sympathized with their “cause.”

Until recently, there was no reason to label the RTC as a major threat. Most of their activities were always directed at very specific individuals or governments of the countries surrounding their native soil of Azerbaijan. With the fall of the Saddam-based Iraqi regime, most of Azerbaijan’s government has become even more so corrupt. The country's undeveloped oil resources have been a target of much national concern. Misappropriated oil funds have fallen into the hands of corrupt officials instead of the country’s citizens, some of which are in desperate need of clean water, food, and medical supplies.

Since approximately 94% of the entire population is Muslim, it is understandable that most of the population was turned against the US and democracy in general. Iraq was a major supporter of the militant exploits of the RTC, but with Hussein no longer in power, the RTC has had to find other means to fund their terrorist activities.

Reports have surfaced that archeological and religious treasures are being looted by the RTC in order to fund their terrorist activities. Most recently the RTC has hijacked a cargo plane containing ancient Egyptian and Mesopotamian artifacts. Which are worth billions on the black market. Intercepted intel claims that a caravan transporting the stolen artifacts is heading for the city of Baku on the coast of the Caspian Sea. If the shipment can reach the coast line, the artifacts will be shipped off via freighter and could be lost indefinitely.

The intent of the RTC is to trade these artifacts for munitions. A South American arms dealer, nicknamed “El Guapo” due to his vanity and his charisma with the ladies, is the RTC’s connection for the munitions trade.

The leader of the RTC is known only as Ilan, Azeri for the “serpent,” and will be in the vicinity of the trade to ensure transactions go smoothly and without a hitch. Normally Ilan stays clear of the RTC’s dealings, but with recent events, Ilan has had to come out of hiding in order to ensure his groups activities can continue.

At 830 local time, a team of Apache helicopters attacked the convoy enroute to Baku. Their orders were to stop the convoy at all costs with one catch: There was to be minimal damage to the actual convoy for fear that the artifacts could be damaged. The second part of the plan is to disable the convoy so that ground forces could secure the area along with the artifacts. The lead and tail vehicles of the convoy were disabled, but due to anti-aircraft and RPG fire the Apaches were forced to vacate the area.

The area’s locals are sympathetic to the RTC and may try to aid or hide members of the RTC. It is believed the RTC has left the convoy’s vehicles behind and are trying to transport all of the stolen items by whatever means they can. It has been reported that the RTC members have hidden the artifacts in the vicinity of the disabled convoy, and are believed to be acquiring reinforcements to recover the crates they were forced to hide and abandon.

The Ground forces that were assigned to securing the cargo were met with considerable enemy resistance and were not able to reach the convoy before the truck’s contents were removed by the RTC.
